The IRS is blaming “COVID-19 mail processing delays” related to processing paper tax returns due to closures made in an effort to slow COVID-19. The IRS has reported a backlog of 4.7 million paper filed tax returns. If your refund has still not arrive, you may want to reach out to the IRS National Taxpayer Advocate helpline at 877-777-4778 like the filers in this article.
COVID-19 Changes to Office Hours
Because of Governor Kemp’s latest Emergency Health order signed on April 8, 2020, our office doors will remain closed to the public through May 14th as a means of practicing social distancing and reducing group gatherings.
The new order does allow us to offer curbside service to our clients outside our front door effective Tuesday, April 28th. We will have a staff member out front on weekdays from 9:00 to 3:00 beginning at that time.
Also, please know that the IRS has extended the tax filing and payment deadline to July 15th.

IRS Releases Post Card Sized 1040 Forms
Here’s an interesting article about the new tax forms for 2018. As you can see, the shorter 1040 page itself doesn’t hide the fact that there are still quite a few schedules and attachments along with the familiar high volume of instructions that taxpayers will continue dealing with in order to file their tax returns each year. No surprises here.
