As usual, Congress made a few changes to the tax code. Among the most surprising was the continuance of the $1,000 Child Tax Credit, which had been reduced to $500 in the original tax code for 2013. Also surviving any changes was the extension of the College Education tax credits through 2017. Additionally, the student loan interest deduction was set to expire, but it received an extension.
